By popular demand I did a hat tutorial. I don't do a lot of tutorials, but hats are something that I know about so I threw a little something together. Yes, I probably made grammar errors and stuff, but I was filling time until I got my script double checked. So yeah, hope the advice helps out someone.

And yup, all these are different characters of mine. Kudos if you recognize them. Tutorial was made using WINK.

-Later Edit-

Thank you people who are faving this SO much. The interest makes it well worth the effort that I put into doing it.

I'm glad it helped. I was looking back over this and thinking I could have done a much better job with the art. I'm thinking of making a full book out of it, since I feel (especially since I did this out of boredom in a night) that I barely skimmed some very interesting and helpful tidbits and could have covered a lot more eras.

It might not. If it doesn't, I would just download as many references as possible and keep trying until it turned out right. I learned from pausing old detective movies.

It also looks like wit your style you should put the hat crown base immediately over the eyebrow line.

Baseball caps sit right against the head if they fit right, so they'll still plaster your hair down but be more closely shaped to your character's head. Bills are tricky, though. *LeSean did a pretty good representation of one on Riley Freeman's head.
